You may have made the right decision. Both of my parents and my sister died in a hospice setting. Their deaths were (mostly) peaceful and I watched them die, but - that is the last image I have of them. That image will come up when I think of them. And they were so much more than that.
Thank you dear. They lived such long and productive lives. My dad was 94; my mom was 87. My sister's death was very traumatic. She had a massive stroke, totally unexpected. I was very close to her and some days I still can't believe it.

Brutal… My mom worked in a nursing home for a while and had similar experiences, but not like this…

The reality of death imo is just brutal compared to the movies. That must have been so shocking! Were you able to sleep later?
After my son died, I could not bring myself to see his body. Thought it would haunt me for life. Wonder if I made the wrong decision some days.
